Subrata Chakrabarti is a professor in the Dept. of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Western University. Following his MBBS from India, he received MSc in Pathology in 1986 and PhD in 1988 from the University of Manitoba. Dr. Chakrabarti completed his residency in Anatomic pathology at the University of Manitoba and a fellowship at Yale University. He is currently Chair, Dept. of Pathology and laboratory Medicine at Western University and Chief of pathology and laboratory Medicine at London Health Sciences Centre & St. Joseph’s Health Care, London ON, Canada. In his research, he investigates mechanisms of chronic diabetic complications and studies diabetic retinopathy, nephropathy and diabetic heart disease. He has published more than 210 peer-reviewed articles and multiple book chapters. His current research is funded by Canadian Institute of Health Research, Canadian Diabetes Association, and Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.
