Dr. Andrew Evans is a Staff Pathologist and consultant in Urological Pathology at University Health Network (UHN) in Toronto. He is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology at The University of Toronto. He has served on several prostate cancer guideline panels with Cancer Care Ontario and has served at the North American council member for the International Society of Urological Pathology. He has been the Director of the UHN Computational Pathology program since its inception in 2003, leading UHN’s integration of digital pathology into a variety of clinical applications, including frozen sections, consultation and primary diagnosis. He is currently the Chair of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Digital Pathology Committee and CAP Pathology and Laboratory Quality Center committees which will revise 2013 guidelines for validating and implementing digital pathology systems for diagnostic purposes. He is also an active participant in research aimed at developing artificial intelligence-based tools for Gleason grading of prostate cancer.
